Storai was born to a refugee Afghan family in Peshawar, Pakistan and grew up in Afghanistan.Before migrating to the United States as an asylum seeker, she trained at the Turquoise Mountain school of traditional craft arts to study traditional jewelry making and carried the craft forward.
For over 15 years, Storai has worked as a silversmith and goldsmith.In her studio she reimagines and creates 2,000-year-old designs by hand. She also brings a decade of CAD design experience from LA's Jewelry District, blending 3D modeling, 3D printing and traditional metalwork together.
Her piece hold a place in the permanent collection of the National Museum of Afghanistan and were featured in Artists Transforming Afghanistan at the Smithsonian National Museum of Asian Art.
Today, Storai continues to grow Storai.co, sharing the legacy of Afghan jeweler through her work.
